The Love Waters integrates a vibrant visual component to research and data collection that serves to create a comprehensive portrait and visual narrative of the marine environment, including environmental issues and threats with an overarching goal of conservation. Our images and stories showcase the beauty and diversity of the marine habitat, as well as environmental pressures such as climate change, coral bleaching and overfishing that impact both Hawaii and global marine environments.
One of the main goals for The Love Waters is to complement the scientific research with visually compelling imagery that can lead to awareness and conservation about the marine ecosystem. Images captured by The Love Waters will assist in identifying sites of high priority for protection and in developing conservation strategies to mitigate human impacts, and improve reef resiliency, in order to preserve and protect the biodiversity, health, heritage and social and economic value of these precious resources.
